Situated in the heart of Sunderland’s Cultural Quarter, in the newly refurbished Fire Station, the Engine Room has several bookable areas and private function rooms in which to host your celebration. Together with your ideas and our dedicated and skilled events manager we will turn your dream celebration into a reality.

The Loft

Located inside our beautifully refurbished bar and restaurant, the Loft is a cosy and intimate bookable space. Elevated to the rear of the restaurant, it’s perfect for smaller groups.

The Library

The Library offers a unique cordoned off area within our dining area. With stunning views of the Cultural Quarter and our new front terrace, this area is perfect for birthday brunches, baby showers and more.

The Fire Station Foyer Bar

The brand-new Fire Station Auditorium Foyer Bar is located adjacent to the Engine Room and is the perfect space for corporate or private evening.

The Fire Station Auditorium

The Fire Station Auditorium is a versatile performance space which hosts an exciting year-round programme of live music, theatre, dance and comedy in a spectacular new state-of-the-art 550 seated or 800 standing capacity space.

Designed by Flanagan Lawrence (Sage Gateshead, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama), the auditorium provides a fantastic opportunity for both private and corporate hires.
